WHOOP!!! – Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how WHOOP!!! (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application and related services.

Data We Collect

Location data

The app accesses your device’s location. We use location only while you are actively using the app (we do not track your location in the background). Specifically:

• Precise location (GPS): When you choose to attach your location to a message (“Map my messages”), we use your device’s precise location (latitude and longitude) to add that position to the message so it can be shown on the chat map. We also use your location to show your position on the in-app map when you open it.
• Example: If you send a message with location enabled, your coordinates at the time of sending are stored with that message and displayed on the map for you and the other participants in that chat.
• You can turn off “Map my messages” in Settings so that new messages are not sent with your location. Location is not used for advertising or tracking across other apps or websites.

Account and profile information

When you create an account or sign in (with email/password, Google, or Apple), we collect and store:

• Email address
• Display name
• User ID (unique identifier for your account)
• Profile details you provide (e.g. grade, graduation year)

This data is used to provide and manage your account, show your identity in chats and contacts, and allow other users to find and interact with you within the app.

User-generated content

Content you create and send through the app is stored and processed to provide the service:

• Chat messages (text)
• Photos and videos you send in chats
• Location attached to messages (as described above)

This content is stored on our servers (Google Firebase) and is visible to you and the other participants in the relevant chat.

Device and app identifiers

We use a push notification token (e.g. Firebase Cloud Messaging token) so we can send you notifications (e.g. new messages, contact requests). This identifier is stored with your account and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

App performance and crash data

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and related technical information (e.g. device model, OS version, app version) to detect and fix errors and improve app stability. This data is not used to identify you personally for marketing purposes.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data described above to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the WHOOP!!! service (chat, map, contacts, notifications)
• Authenticate you and manage your account
• Deliver push notifications (messages, contact requests)
• Show your location on the map and attach your location to messages when you enable that feature
• Diagnose and fix crashes and technical issues
• Comply with applicable laws and enforce our terms

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites.

Sharing of Data

Your data is processed and stored using Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, messaging, crash reporting). Firebase acts as our service provider under our instructions. We may also disclose data when required by law (e.g. in response to valid legal process) or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the public.

Content you share in chats (messages, photos, videos, location attached to messages) is visible to the other participants in those chats, as intended by the app.

Data Retention

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. Chat content and related data are retained to provide the service. If you delete your account (via Settings → Delete account), we delete your account and profile data; some data (e.g. messages already delivered to other users) may remain in their chats as part of the conversation history. Crash and diagnostic data may be retained for a limited period for analysis and then removed or anonymized.

Security

We use industry-standard measures (including encryption in transit, e.g. HTTPS) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices

• Location: You can disable “Map my messages” in Settings so new messages are not sent with your location. You can also revoke location permission in your device settings.
• Account deletion: You can permanently delete your account and associated profile data at any time via Settings → Other → Delete account. This will remove your account from our systems; re-authentication may be required for security.
• Access and correction: You can update your display name and profile information in the app. For other requests, contact us using the details below.

Children’s Privacy

Our service is not directed to anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
